New Head Coach

Dated: 29 October 2018

Crawley SC are pleased and excited to announce that our new head coach will be Will Philpot. This is a very important announcement for all of the swimmers, parents and everyone involved with the club.

Some brief background for anyone who doesn’t know Will:

Will previously worked (and swam) for Crawley SC in 2010 and 2011. Since 2013 through to now, he has been Head of Swimming at Cranleigh School. In 2016 he was also appointed Wye Valley Swimming Club Head Coach.

In April 2018 Will also worked with Guildford City Swimming Club as volunteer coach for the High Performance Youth Squad.

Will is also part of the SE Regional Coaching team, where some of our swimmers may have also come across him in the last 12 months.

Will has resigned his positions with Wye Valley, Cranleigh School and his voluntary role with Guildford City to become full time Head Coach with Crawley SC.

We plan to have a parents meeting on a Friday night prior to the official start date of 2nd January 2019. The parents meeting date is yet to be confirmed. This will give everyone a chance to meet Will and also for Will to have an introduction to all of the relevant squad swimmers.

After a number of years Crawley SC are in a position to not only plan for the future, but with this announcement, finally put in place a structure and strategy which will enable Crawley SC to grow as a club.

As previously announced, Ron will be stepping up as Director of Swimming. This move will allow Ron to take full responsibility for all aspects of the swimming program. In Ron’s own word’s ‘he feel’s like an uncaged animal’ and cannot wait to guide Crawley SC through these exciting times.

I’d also like to underline that Jason is still very much in place and will continue his great work with Gold, Silver and Bronze squads.

We would like to warmly welcome Will to the team and look forward to this exciting new chapter for everyone involved with Crawley SC.
