Crawley Swimming Club Masters take on Europe!!
Crawley Masters are tapering their training sessions, packing their GB kit and are mentally preparing themselves ahead of the upcoming European Championships 2016 at London’s iconic Olympic Park next week. With 28,000 entrants from all over Europe taking part, it promises to be an exciting and awe inspiring experience for all swimmers.
The four Crawley ladies, and current National relay medal winners, Sharon Crowhurst, Linda Hooker, Meryl Alexander and Lisa Mickel are a formidable team taking part in the 200-239 combined age group in the 4 x 50 Freestyle and 4 x 50 Medley Relays.
Individually, they also want to achieve great things.
Linda will take part in the 50m Breast, seeded 27th, 100m Breast, seeded 13th and 200 Breast, seeded 6th. She has trained very hard this year and is hoping to reap the rewards for her hard work.
Sharon will be returning to the Europeans having collected a Silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke in her age group and a fourth place in the 100m Breaststroke previously. She is now seeded joint third in the 40-44 age group 50m, but has struggled with injury this year so would be happy to take a top ten place next week.
Meryl Alexander is the Butterfly Queen and is seeded 5th in her 50m individual event for her age group 65-69 . She will also be taking part in the 50m Freestyle and is seeded 10th .
Lisa will be competing in the age group 40-44 and will swim 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, seeded 22nd in both, and 200m Freestyle, seeded 31st. This is an opportunity for her to get some new PB’s following her total hip replacement two years ago.
We also have Valerie McLaren, another lady representing Crawley Masters. Valerie will be swimming in the 65-69 age group and is seeded 14th in both the 200m Freestyle 400m Freestyle.
Crawley SC would like to wish you all the very best of luck but most of all, have an amazing time!
